By: Kayla Robins NORTH FORSYTH -- Now that the school year has settled into a post-first-day routine, one high school group is looking for community support. The North Forsyth High School FFA Chapter will host its first meeting of the year tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the agriculture classroom on the campus at 3635 Coal Mountain Drive, which is open to the public interested in learning more about the group. “We will discuss our plans for our Farm to Table program, which include plans for the installation of a hydroponics system in one of our greenhouses,” North FFA Advisor Stacey Cagle said. “We will also discuss upcoming events for this fall, including land judging and floral design as well as ag mechanics and tractor driving.” FFA is a national organization made up of more than 600,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture and is a significant presence in public school agricultural education. Cagle said the high school chapter plans to attend the National and State FFA Convention, FFA Day at the Georgia National Fair, compete in career development events and conduct community service projects. “We know that we will need support from our community to make all of this happen,” Cagle said in a news release. New this year to the school will be a livestock show team. Cagle said North FFA is looking for sponsors for these students to help develop their projects and gain life skills associated with showing a livestock project.
