CUMMING -- Publix Super Markets Charities donated $80,000 to Habitat for Humanity North Central Georgia to fund the construction of a home, which is due to start in January.

The local Habitat branch, which builds affordable homes and sells them to low-income families, was one of eight affiliates in Georgia to receive funds from Publix as part of a total $5.5 million across the Southeast.

“We are grateful for the many years of support we have received from the Foundation, which, with this year’s grant, will have donated over [$500,000] in support of our ministry since 2008 — providing funding for 11 new Habitat homes in our service area of north Fulton and Cherokee and Forsyth counties,” said Russ Hayes, Habitat North Central Georgia CEO.
