Another Forsyth County football player is committed to play for Big Red.
Lambert senior quarterback Richie Kenney verbally committed to play for Division I Football Championship Subdivision member Cornell University, announcing his decision Friday evening on Twitter.
“Beyond excited to say I’ve committed to Cornell University,” Kenney wrote.
Kenney joins Forsyth Central senior running back Sabrian Howard, who committed to Cornell on Dec. 3. Both are expected to sign their national letters of intent this Wednesday on National Signing Day.
Kenney leaves Lambert as arguably the program’s most accomplished quarterback. A two-year starter, Kenney led the Longhorns this past season to its first region title and state playoff victory ever, throwing for 2,074 yards with 23 touchdowns and just nine interceptions in 12 games.
Kenney (and Howard) would join a Big Red program that went 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the Ivy League this past season.
