Host Lambert placed seventh out of 34 teams at its Hook’em Invitational this past Friday.

North Gwinnett won the event with 176 team points, ahead of Pope (163), Toombs County (155), North Paulding (152) and Veterans (149).

The Longhorns had 116.5 points, led in part by Eric Kohlins’ dominant run through the 182-pound weight class that ended in a 13-6 decision in the finals against Pope’s Abe Elias, last season’s state champ at 160 pounds in Class 6A.

But Kohlins got help from teammates, particularly Cole Burke and Ethan Young who both placed second at 160 and 195 pounds, respectively.

Daniel Morin placed fourth at 152 pounds, while Alex Dobleman placed fifth at 132.
