PREP ROUNDUP: South Forsyth's Evan Cole eclipses 1,000 points in win at North Forsyth

GIRLS BASKETBALL

South Forsyth 43, North Forsyth 22

Zoe Maisel had 14 points and the Lady War Eagles used stifling defense for a Region 5-7A victory Tuesday on the road.

Mari Jonassen added 10 points for South (12-6, 3-0), which raced out to a 14-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Cassie Markle had seven rebounds and was one of five Lady Raiders (12-4, 0-2) to score five points along with Kate Ware, Bella Caracciolo and Caroline Martin.

St. Francis 71, Pinecrest Academy 53

Margaret Metz scored 29 points but the Lady Paladins dropped a Region 6-1A game Tuesday on the road to the No. 3 ranked team in Class A, according to MaxPreps.com.

Pinecrest dropped to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in region.

West Forsyth 65, Forsyth Central 30

Ella Madson had a game-high 19 points as the Lady Wolverines cruised to a Region 5-7A victory Tuesday on the road.

Abby Quincy added 16 points for West (10-5, 2-1), while Maggie Quincy scored 11 points and Kalie Schlegel had seven points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Forsyth Central 65, West Forsyth 50

CJ Smith had a game-high 26 points and the Bulldogs pulled away late for a Region 5-7A victory Tuesday at home.

Patrick Thomas grabbed eight rebounds for Central (9-7, 2-0), which led by as little as 54-50 with just over 2 minutes remaining before going on an 11-0 run to finish the game.

Joseph Staiti led West (2-13, 0-3) with 13 points, while Andrew Stanton added 12 points.

South Forsyth 54, North Forsyth 49

Santhosh Saravanan had 15 points as the War Eagles edged their rival Tuesday in a Region 5-7A victory on the road.

Sebastian Mallory and Andrew Roth each added 10 points for South (5-13, 1-2), while senior and University of North Carolina-Wilmington signee Evan Cole eclipsed 1,000 points for his career.

Connor Stephenson led North (3-13, 0-2) with 18 points, while Preston Wiggins added 11 points for the Raiders.
